Dance Music Arrangements for Guitar

Scroll down for some of my guitar arrangements of SCA dance music.  I decided to do some guitar solo arrangements of some popular SCA dances so that I could provide live music for dance when other instruments were not available (sometimes, there's just not a recorder around to carry the melody line!).  These arrangements require no additional musicians, just a guitarist and a guitar.

Belle Qui Pavan (Arbeau, 1589)

Staff notation and modern guitar tablature for Belle Qui Pavan.  Arranged for solo guitar by Johann von Solothurn.

Bransle Official (Arbeau, 1589)

Staff notation and modern guitar tablature for Official Bransle.  Arranged for guitar by Johann von Solothurn.

Old Alman (Inns of Court, c. 1570)

Staff notation and modern guitar tablature for Old Alman.  Arranged for guitar by Johann von Solothurn.

Lorrayne Alman (Inns of Court)

Staff notation and modern guitar tablature for Lorrayne Alman.  Arranged for guitar by Johann von Solothurn.

Maltese Branle/Schiarazula Marazula (Giorgio Mainerio, 1578)

Staff notation and modern guitar tablature for Maltese Branle.  Arranged for guitar by Johann von Solothurn.  Typically, this piece starts out slowly, then the tempo picks up until either the dancers or the instrumentalist(s) fall over.

Hole in the Wall (Henry Purcell, 1695)

Staff notation and modern guitar tablature for Hole in the Wall.  Arranged for guitar by Johann von Solothurn.  Yes, this piece is well outside of the SCA Period.  The dance is from a later edition of Playford (1698).  This was the first SCA dance that I encountered in my early years as a SCAdian.
