The Tournament
One of the most exciting SCA events each year is the Crown Tournament, where combatants gather to fight for the honor and burden of wearing their Kingdom's Crown. Some Crown Tournaments I've attended have been absolutely magical. The Tournament is held twice a year, and the victors will serve as Their Royal Highnesses (Prince/Princess) for about 5 months before stepping up as King and Queen for a 6 month reign. Being Royals in the SCA is a labor of love, and we appreciate those who serve in this capacity as stewards of the Dream. Each Spring and Fall, as Crown Tournament approaches, I find myself singing this song.
