I wrote an earlier version of "Atlantian Mother's Lullaby" several years ago, just before I became a father. My Lady, who is mundanely a native Finn, would occasionally sing a traditional Finnish lullaby. The melodies were beautiful and distinctive. While setting one of the Finnish lullabies to staff notation so that my Lady could play the song on the recorder, I was inspired to write a lullaby of my own. The melody of "Atlantian Mother's Lullaby" is influenced by the Finnish lullabies that Helena sings. After my son was born, I rewrote the lyrics to my original lullaby to make a personalized song to my son (click here for more info on Jakob's Lullaby). More recently (~2014), I decided to revisit "Atlantian Mother's Lullaby" to incorporate some of the lyrics from "Jakob's Lullaby" and remove gender references from the original song. The latest version of the song is presented below.
